C.O.R.E: College Options, Readiness, and Education
We at Appalachian GEAR UP have developed a comprehensive postsecondary access system called C.O.R.E: College Options, Readiness, and Education.
Our focus is on three pillars:
- Instructional Services
- Postsecondary PLCs
- Building Relationships
The purpose of C.O.R.E. is to give schools a comprehensive, systemic plan for addressing student needs as they relate to postsecondary education.
Gear Up for Innovation, Design & Entrepreneurship (GUIDE)
The App State GUIDE Program Curriculum is designed to provide educators with the knowledge, tools, and resources to help students get their ideas off the ground and learn what it looks like and feels like to be an entrepreneur.
Tutor.com
Tutor.com offers free on-demand, online tutoring. Students are able to connect anytime with tutors for help with homework, studying, SAT/ACT practice, editing papers and more.
FAFSA Toolkit
The FAFSA Toolkit, explains some of the many reasons why every student pursing a postsecondary degree should submit a FAFSA every year. The sections that follow are targeted to specific populations who may need additional support in submitting a FAFSA.

GEAR UP Brand Kit
Appalachian GEAR UP Brand Kit provides resources and general suggested content for use by district programs.
GEAR UP Club Activities
Suggested activities to engage middle and high school students in planning their postsecondary path.
The Coordinator's Guide to Successful GEAR UP College Visits for Middle and High School Students and Families provides resources and planning tips to help design and implement an intentional, informative, inspirational, and interactive campus visit.
Family Engagement Toolkit
The Family Engagement Toolkit serves to inform, guide, and empower your local GEAR UP program and UCAN committee as you plan for and implement GEAR UP family engagement programming.
