GEAR UP students resumed Appalachian State University campus visits last month after pandemic restrictions loosened. Over 1,400 GEAR UP middle school students toured the campus, attended professor-led educational demonstrations, participated in academic and admissions presentations, and ate in the dining hall amongst current college students.
Grace Fortune, GEAR UP Experiential Education Program Specialist helped organize the campus visits throughout the month of April. “Students were very excited to participate in a field trip to App State! We have inspired young minds to expand in higher education.”
GEAR UP students will participate in summer bus tours to college campuses across the state beginning next month.
