As part of their research, the ETL team supports teacher professional development using micro-credentials (competency-based professional learning that helps teachers gain the skills and understanding to hone their practice in the classroom). Recently, the team reached a milestone by successfully authoring and publishing its first micro-credential, titled "Reflective Practice Using Video" and hosted by Digital Promise.
This innovative micro-credential encourages teachers to reflect on their own teaching practices using video of their classroom instruction to self-identify areas of potential growth. The team's micro-credential encourages teachers to focus on their impact on student engagement and learning outcomes in a non-evaluative approach. Publishing a micro-credential requires extensive research, meticulous planning, and thoughtful writing to ensure a high-quality resource for teachers, and the team's micro-credential reflects that commitment to quality. The team is currently developing two additional micro-credentials, which they anticipate will be available for educators soon.
